Preview: The Lesson, Theatre Royal Winchester

Prepare to learn about power and knowledge in The Lesson at Theatre Royal Winchester on Thursday 15 September.

It tells of a mild-mannered professor who takes on a new pupil and very soon becomes bent on her destruction. A classic written by Romanian-French playwright, Eugene Ionesco and translated by Donald Watson, this production comes to the city following sold out runs at Teatrul de Comedie in Bucharest and others.

It is brought to the stage by Icarus Theatre – a touring company with 24 productions to their name; who have performed in over 200 venues around the UK and Europe.

This revival of the company’s awarding-winning dark comedy includes a dynamic projection design that encapsulates Ionesco’s text and new Creative Captioning technology that ensures every performance is accessible for hearing, deaf and hard of hearing audiences.

This performance also includes a post-show chat.

  • The Lesson will be at Theatre Royal Winchester on Thursday 15 September at 7.30pm. Recommended age: 14+. For more information or to book tickets visit theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
