Preview: Arctic Monkeys are coming to the Ageas Bowl, Southampton

by Catherine Collins.

Arctic Monkeys have announced their biggest tour to date, including a show at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton on Wednesday 14 June 2023.

The group – who recently headlined both Reading and Leeds festivals – comprises of Alex Turner, Matt Helders, Jamie Cook and Nick O’Malley. They will be hitting the road next summer, starting at the end of May.

The tour will see them play 13 dates across the UK and Ireland, including two huge homecoming gigs for the band from Sheffield, and will be supported by The Hives and The Mysterines.

Formed in Sheffield in the early 2000s, the group gained an impressive following through various social media websites, and became almost overnight sensations with the release of I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor, in 2005.

Their debut album, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not,  became the fastest-selling album in British history and soared to the top of both the U.K. and U.S. rock album charts, taking home the prestigious Mercury Prize in the process.

The upcoming tour announcement comes ahead of the release of the band’s seventh studio album, The Car, which is set to be released on October 21 – all of their albums have previously gone straight to number one in the UK album charts.

Tickets for the shows go on sale at 9am on Friday 30 September, with a fan pre-sale beginning at 9am on September 29. Those who pre-order The Car from the band’s official web store before 3pm on Wednesday 28th September will get access to the fan pre-sale.
