The Point has programmed a special last-minute performance by the Hooligan Art Community from Ukraine, Bunker Cabaret, to The Point on Friday 14 October.

Combining music, poetry, dance and film, the show is named because much of it was literally devised in a bunker by the company’s performers Sam and Dunya during the rocket attacks on Kyiv earlier this year.

The Hooligan Art Community formed in Kyiv in 2019, but its performers were separated earlier this year when war broke out in Ukraine. Many performers left the country as refugees whilst a small number remained.

In August, the artists reunited in London, and their new show, Bunker Cabaret, is the first step towards re-establishing their practice by performing in the UK.

This show is performed in English but does feature non-verbal content which is accessible for non-English speakers.

Charlotte Hall, Creative Director of The Point Eastleigh says: “Bunker Cabaret is a powerful exploration of love versus totalitarianism, and the personal conflicts of making art in time of war.

“It is a huge privilege to present this work at The Point and a touching example of how theatre and storytelling can help us to connect with experiences outside of our own.”

Tickets are priced £13, £11 concessions.
