Southampton listings 22 – 28 November

The (replacement) Christmas market has arrived in Southampton and you can drink, toast marshmallows, skate and do all manner of outdoors Christmassy things. But we’re not quite into the full on Christmas season yet entertainment-wise. So hold your pantomime horses, we’re not ready for ‘he’s behind you’ just yet.

There is, of course, loads of entertainment to choose from in the area though. So even though it’s a bit cold, damp and dark, your efforts to venture out should be handsomely rewarded.

This week’s offerings include contemporary dance a bit further afield, with James Wilton’s The Four Seasons at Theatre Royal Winchester. There’s an author talk from Kabir Kareem-Bello (pictured) at October Books exploring the ongoing quest for identity.

Sea Girls are at the O2 Guildhall Southampton tomorrow, as part of the tour to promote their new album Homesick (click here for an interview with the band).

A much anticipated stage highlight is Othello at MAST Mayflower Studios, musical highlights include  Nduduzo Makhathini at Turner Sims, while the Welsh National Opera brings three different operas to the Mayflower Theatre stage (click here for more information).

This is just a small snippet of the wide range of entertainment offerings this week.
