Reader’s letter: please respond to the Southampton City Vision consultation

I am writing to urge all Southampton residents to respond to the Southampton City Vision consultation by 3rd January! It’s your chance to say how you would like to future proof the City. At Transition Southampton we’ve put together a handy guide: Southampton Local Plan Consultation (transitionsouthampton.org) – just choose the bits that interest you and respond to the quick survey or the sections of the main survey. All links are in the web page. This is our chance to encourage the Council to look at future-proofing the city with climate action lenses on.

We want the Local Plan to have a clear vision for the future (to 2040 – the lifetime of this Plan) which is bold and provides a strategy and interim goals for a zero carbon future for the whole City. Many local authorities are writing their Local Plans to ensure the planning system gives full weight to the legal obligation to meet net zero carbon by 2050. We want our Council to do the same. Read our full response here.
