Concert pianist Luka Okros performs at Turner Sims, Southampton, next week

London-based Georgian concert pianist, Luka Okros, who has established himself as one of the most outstanding pianists of his generation, comes to Southampton’s Turner Sims on February 2.
His performance has been praised by The Guardian’s Observer as “An impressive display of virtuosic pianism”. Spanish newspaper Levante described him as “An Artist of the Sound”.
 Luka started learning the piano at 4 and gave his first solo recital at age 5. He graduated from the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory and the London Royal College of Music. In 2016 the Art Council of England has granted him the Exceptional Talent Visa.
He has won many awards, including Verbier Festival Piano Award by Tabor Foundation, first prizes at the Hong Kong International Piano Competition, the Valencia Iturbi Prize International Competition, Hannover Chopin International Piano Competition, Morocco Philharmonic International Piano Competition and FAZ Audience Award 2019 at the International German Piano Award.
Luka has performed in many of the world’s most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, Het Concertgebouw, Southbank Centre, Konzerthaus Berlin, Wigmore Hall, Harpa, Liszt Academy, Musiikkitalo, Oslo Konserthus, Palau de la Musica Valencia, Vienna Konzerthaus.
Highlights of the 2022/2023 season include recitals in Amsterdam (Het Concertgebouw), Budapest (Liszt Academy), Helsinki (Musiikkitalo), London (LSO St Luke’s), Munich (Gasteig), Paris (Salle Cortot), Reykjavík (Harpa), Tbilisi (Conservatory, Kakhidze Music Center), Vienna (Esterhazy Palace), as well as live performances for radios, including BBC Radio 3 and France Musique.
Luka has recorded two albums: “Schumann” was released in 2016  and  “Chopin” was presented on July 16, 2019, in London Southbank Centrin 2019.
In addition to his career as a pianist, Luka works on creating an album of his compositions. One of the pieces was filmed and premiered by Het Concertgebouw’s Sessions. UK-based Master Music Publications publish scores of his works.
Since 2021 Luka has been appointed as an assistant artistic director at the Bechstein Hall – London’s new concert hall opening on Wigmore Street in 2024.
