Southampton listings: 12 – 18 September

On Saturday the now annual event, Transgender Pride, returns to Southampton. It will see a march and speeches followed by a casual, bring your own picnic.

Friday sees another annual event, The Southampton Boat Show return to the city, with lots to entertain those interested in life on the water, while there are various Heritage Open Days in the city and beyond. On Saturday, Friends of Freemantle Lake Park are holding their Great Get Together, with stalls, entertainment and more, while Friends of St James Park are holding their Shirley Village Show on Sunday.

On stage, the ever-popular amateur company, Maskers Theatre (pictured top), are back this week with Time and Tide, celebrating the city’s maritime history. Discover the background to legendary group The Drifters, in The Drifters Girl, at The Mayflower this week, or stay with the classic bands theme for a celebration of The Beatles at MAST Mayflower Studios in The Magic of the Beatles.

Venture beyond Southampton to catch Von Wildenhaus at The Railway, Winchester, on the 17th or ELO Again at Theatre Royal Winchester on the 13th.
