Southampton’s only specifically designed accessible allotment opens

Its been a long journey for the dedicated team of volunteers, but we after their recent Community Action Day,the only specifically designed Allotment s for residents with disabilities in Southampton is open.
A spokesperson for the group said, “its been a real achievement by a team of volunteers who deserve huge thanks. The fact that our original allotment was vandalised was a major setbacks But it made our resolve stronger. ‘We will not be defeated ,’ was our challenge. We are grateful to South West Railways for providing this new site and their support and funding.”
The group is inviting relevant residents, groups and charities to tea and cakes at the allotments  on Wednesday 4th October 10 am at St Denys station off Adelaide Rd St Denys.
Maryam Zade, SWR’s Customer and Communities Improvement Fund Manager, said, “Connecting people and communities is at the heart of our business and CCIF, our community fund, gives us an opportunity to support organisations with their projects that focus on community benefit.
“Projects, like these allotments, which benefit sections of the community that may otherwise be missed are exactly the kind of schemes that CCIF was set up to help and we’re happy to support the work being done to restore the allotments after they were vandalised.”
