Recently, I embarked on a short journey from Totton to Poole by train, followed by a ferry ride to the tranquil Brownsea Island.

It had been a couple of years since my last visit, so returning to such a peaceful and picturesque retreat was truly wonderful.

Brownsea Island is the perfect destination for a quiet escape, offering scenic walking trails, breathtaking views, and a rich variety of wildlife. One of the greatest highlights is spotting the charming red squirrels that call the island home.

The walk from Poole station to the quay is brief but delightful, passing by some of Poole’s wonderful little shops. Along the way, you’ll find plenty of cafés, pubs, and restaurants—ideal for a refreshment stop before or after your trip.

Once at the quay, purchasing a ferry ticket is simple, and the journey to Brownsea takes just about twenty minutes. The ferry operates hourly, with tickets costing £14.50, while entry to the island is £11.

I had an amazing time taking these photos and hope you enjoy seeing them.
