Mabel Wellman – writer

I am a call centre agent who lives in Aldermoor. I have lived in Southampton my whole life, first in Northam Estate and spent most of my childhood and teen years in Bitterne.
I am an avid fan of the outdoors and love walking around Southampton and Hampshire. My favourite walks have been  from Woolston to Netley, and leading the opening march of Southampton Pride in 2023. From going on so many long and winding walks I believe I could be teleported to any part of Southampton and find my way home without getting lost!
As a trans and bisexual woman, I have volunteered in the three Prides our city has to offer over the past four years. Including being a chairwoman for People’s Pride Southampton for two years, before co-founding Trans Pride Southampton with my partner. I have also volunteered at Bitterne Library and Board In The City CIC for short amounts of time. My goal in all my voluntary work has always been to make Southampton a brighter and safer city with a strong sense of identity and community.
