Southampton listings 17 – 23 October

This week sees the first half of the autumn school term draw to a close and the beginning of the school holidays, so there are plenty of family-friendly things going alongside a huge range of options for child-free outings, with more than 100 events taking place this week, and with Halloween just around the corner, there are some options to get you in the mood to be frightened.

MAST Mayflower Studios is set to be spooked this Halloween season as it hosts the tour of Do You Believe in Ghosts?  on Wednesday, while the critically acclaimed, smash hit, supernatural thriller, 2:22 A Ghost Story, arrives at Mayflower Theatre from Tuesday 17 to Saturday 21 October and a must-see ghost story visits Theatre Royal Winchester in the shape of Shock Horror on Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 October.

Stuff and Nonsense Theatre Company present a joyful, family-friendly retelling of The Three Little Pigs, which is set to visit The Point, Eastleigh, on Saturday 21 October.

This week’s music includes Little Man Tate at The Engine Rooms.

Offerings for children include an enchanting story is brought to life on the Theatre Royal Winchester stage in the shape of Michael Morpurgo’s I Believe In Unicorns on Monday 23 October and the theatre also hosts the entirely improvised wizarding comedy shows, Spontaneous Potter and Spontaneous Potter Kidz, on Sunday 22 October, with a matinee show for children and an over 16s performance in the evening (pictured top).
