The sensational West End hit, Motown the Musical, is bringing its toe-tapping sounds to the stage at Mayflower Theatre next week. It’s the thrilling tale of Berry Gordy – the man who broke barriers and fought against the odds to create something more than just a record label. Discover the story behind Motown, the personal relationships, the professional struggles and, of course, the music that made history, defined the sound of a generation and got the whole world moving to the same beat.

In the Southampton theatre’s 90 year history many of Motown artists have performed on its stage: Stevie Wonder in January 1969, The Supremes in March 1973, The Detroit Spinners in 1974 and worked their way back on four more occasions, MarvinGaye in September 1981 and The Four Tops couldn’t help themselves coming back in 1970,1972, 1977 and 1982.

Featuring a live orchestra playing 50 Motown tracks including  Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, I’ll Be There, Stop! In The Name Of Love, My Girl and I Heard It through theGrapevine, Motown the Musical is a show that’s guaranteed to have you Dancing in the Street.
